Look forward to the geekiest day of the year as York Comic Con is set to return – with a Doctor as a special guest!
Taking place across all six floors of the Knavesmire Stand, the family day out will feature attractions, costume characters, movie vehicles and star guest appearances – including Doctor Who legend Sylvester McCoy.
York Unleashed Comic Con will take place on Sunday 1 September at York Racecourse.
It is organised by Unleashed Events.
Sylvester McCoy is best known for portraying the Seventh Doctor in Doctor Who from 1987 to 1989. He reprised the role of the Doctor in the 2022 special ‘The Power of the Doctor’, as well as in several spin-offs.
The actor is also known for playing the wizard Radagast in The Hobbit film trilogy.
Other media guests that have been announced for the 2024 convention are Chris Barrie, who starred as Arnold Rimmer in 13 series of the sci-fi space comedy Red Dwarf. This year will be Barrie’s last comic-con with Unleashed, it’s been announced.

Joining them is actor Clem So, who has appeared in franchises such as Star Wars, James Bond, and Marvel.
There will be plenty to do on the day, including stage talks, cosplay masquerade, and a huge geeky market selling merchandise and collectables from all your favourite shows, films and games.
