York Castle Museum’s famous Victorian high street has been decorated for Christmas.
Kirkgate has had a festive transformation — complete with snow-covered cobbles, historical decorations and beautiful Christmas trees.
Take a step back in time in an experience that’s fun for the whole family.
Christmas at York Castle Museum runs until 4 January 2023.
Fiona Burton, public engagement manager at York Museums Trust, said, “We are so excited for Christmas at York Castle Museum this year.
“We hope visitors will enjoy exploring a stunning snow-covered Kirkgate lined with twinkling Christmas trees and festive decorations on display. It’s certainly a place where imaginations can run wild. There’s so much to explore throughout the museum this Christmas, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone!”
As well as the decorated Kirkgate, there are also several festive events happening at York Castle Museum this year — such as a Christmas cracker making workshop, lino printing workshop, and even a visit from Ebeneezer Scrooge himself!
On selected dates Ebeneezer Scrooge will appear on Kirkgate for a family-friendly re-telling of the Charles Dickens’ novel A Christmas Carol. The experience is included with a general admission ticket.
There will also be an evening adults-only performance at an additional cost.
