Police have issued an update tonight about the man’s body recovered from floodwater earlier today (Monday).
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “The body of a man which was recovered earlier today from an area of flooding near to Intake Lane in Beal has been informally identified.
“We’re currently in the process of tracing the man’s next of kin and formal identification will take place in due course.
“At this stage, there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the discovery. A file will be prepared for the coroner.
“Thank you to everyone who shared the media appeal which we issued earlier, the information which we have received has assisted us with our enquiries.”

A man’s body has been discovered in a flooded river in North Yorkshire.
The body was recovered from an area of flooding near Intake Lane in Beal, close to Eggborough and Knottingley, earlier today.
He was found without any identification or personal belongings. North Yorkshire Police are appealing for the public’s help in identifying the man.

The man is described as white, in his early 50s to 60s, with light brown short hair and stubble. He was wearing:
- Brown walking boots
- Blue denim jeans with a brown belt
- A multicoloured knitted jumper which is similar to the one pictured, with a zip and hood
- Possibly a dark green waterproof coat.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “We believe he may have entered the water within the last 24 to 48 hours.
“Does this description match someone you know who could be missing? Do you have CCTV, doorbell, or dashcam footage from the area, or any information that could help us piece together what happened?”
