A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the death of a stabbing victim in York this morning (Saturday).
He is in police custody for questioning.
Police thanked everyone who called in with information following their appeal earlier tonight.
The arrested man is 33 and from York.
Tonight more details about the fatal stabbing on the Bell Farm Estate have emerged.
Police were called to Roche Avenue and Bellfarm Avenue at 4.45am following reports of a serious assault.
They found the victim, a man in his 30s, who was taken to the hospital. Sadly he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The victim’s family has been informed. They are being supported by specially trained officers.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Our thoughts are with them during this difficult time.
“We understand this incident may cause concern within the community. However, we believe this to be an isolated incident, and we are working diligently to determine the circumstances surrounding it.
“We would like to thank the local community for their cooperation and the information provided so far.

This evening, police had appealed for the public’s help in tracking down suspect Ian James Franklin.
They said he may be injured himself.
Another man, also a 33-year-old from York, was arrested earlier on suspicion of affray and remains in police custody for questioning.
A cordon will remain in place throughout the weekend as Crime Scene Investigators continue to work at the scene.
Officers are also conducting extensive enquiries in the area, including gathering CCTV footage, and taking witness statements.
Neighbours of the victim had told YorkMix that the stabbing happened after a fight at a party on Roche Avenue. Some of the violence was centred on an alleyway near the home.
They also said another man was in hospital with facial injuries.
The police helicopter was involved in the search and armed officers were seen on the Bell Farm Estate early this morning.
