A man is in hospital with a serious injury after a robbery in York.
The 35-year-old local man suffered a serious head injury in the incident, which took place on Mill Street near to Piccadilly and George Street, between 6.40pm and 7pm on Friday (July 29).
The victim was taken to Leeds General Infirmary, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
Police investigating the incident have cordoned off an area on Mill Street and George Street. Officers remain on scene whilst enquiries continue.
Anyone who was in the area of Mill Street and George Street between 6.40pm and 7pm on Friday is asked to contact police as they may have information vital to the investigation.
In particular, anyone who saw a group of youths is urged to get in touch.

A 15 year old boy from York has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in police custody.
