A man had to be taken to hospital for treatment after an unprovoked attack in York city centre.
North Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses and information after the assault on Micklegate.
The incident happened around 3.45am on Thursday (19 September) when the victim suffered an unprovoked attack, sustaining injuries to his face which required hospital treatment.
He has since been discharged from hospital and is home with his family.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “We are requesting the public’s assistance to help establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident in particular anyone who witnessed it occur or might know who is responsible.”
