Firefighters rescued a man from the river in Tadcaster today (Wednesday).
On call firefighters from the town located, stabilised and extricated hin, according to Group Manager Bob Hoskins.
The man suffered minor injuries in the incident.
Bob Hoskins says that they are currently recruiting on call firefighters at Tadcaster.
They provide on-call cover from home and/or their place of work. They respond to emergencies when their pager alerts them, so they must work and/or live within approximately four minutes travel time from the fire station.
They travel from their work or home to the fire station, where they then travel to the emergency in a fire engine.
