Fire crews pulled a drowning man to safety after he got into trouble in the River Ouse early on Wednesday morning (March 30).
The man was in the river near Lendal Bridge. A member of the public heard him shouting for help at about 5.10am. They called the fire brigade.
A crew from York Fire Station used the fire service’s rescue boat to reach the man. They used rescue poles, life jackets and throw lines to get him out of the water and into the boat.
He was then checked over by paramedics on the river bank.
