A ‘superb 999 effort’ saw a man rescued from a flat fire in York late last night.
Emergency services were called to the blaze at the first floor flat in Burdyke Avenue at 11.41pm yesterday (Wednesday).
It was tackled by crews from the York and Acomb stations.

A man aged 28 was rescued by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus. They gave him oxygen until the ambulance arrived.
They used hose reel jets to put out the flames. The flat suffered significant fire damage
Station Manager Tony Walker said on Twitter: “Crews from Acomb and York have rescued a male from a flat fire in the Acomb area of the city.
“The cause is now under investigation.
