An investigation is underway in Scarborough after a car entered the sea with a man inside.
The incident occurred at around 7:18 pm yesterday (Thursday), when a vehicle went into the water from Vincent’s Pier in the South Bay area.
Emergency services, including the coastguard, a lifeboat crew, Fire & Rescue, paramedics and police, all responded to the scene near Scarborough Lighthouse.
The car had overturned and become submerged in the water.
A man in the driver’s seat, believed to have been the only occupant of the vehicle, was recovered and taken to hospital by ambulance for emergency treatment.
His family have been informed and are receiving support from the police.
Vincent’s Pier has been temporarily closed while the investigation continues.
