A man was knocked unconscious in a spate of violent and drunken incidents in York overnight.
The trouble was revealed as part of the North Yorkshire Police tweetathon, where they tweeted every incident they dealt with over 12 hours till 2am today (Saturday).
There were a number of reports of rowdy behaviour and violence in York. A large number of people were in the city centre after a day’s racing at the Ebor Festival at York Racecourse.

8.41pm – Reports of rowdy behaviour in the Shambles in York, we’ve attended and moved a number of people on
1.04am – Man assaulted in York city centre. A group may be involved. We’re searching the area for suspects
1.13am – A call reporting a large group of teenagers fighting outside a fast food restaurant on a retail park in York. Group were shouting and being verbally abusive. Officers dispatched to the scene

1.40am – Report of a man unconscious in York with head injury. Ambulance on scene and officers attending. The man is being treated for his injuries
1.51am – Called to a fight in York – one man reported as being knocked unconscious. One suspect located and arrested, two currently detained and one still outstanding. Description shared with local officers and search is on to find outstanding suspect.

The tweetathon also revealed a number of other serious offences now being investigated in and around York. These included:
2.27pm, Friday – Caller from York reports antisocial behaviour and vandalism in her street over the past few nights. We’re taking details and will investigate. This is where your ring doorbells and other private cctv come in handy to help us identify any suspects.
3.11pm – We’ve received a report regarding some erratic driving on the A19 between York and Selby

3.53pm – A report that a van has tipped over and is stuck in the middle of Hull Road, Selby. No one’s injured. Officers are at the scene, and assisting recovery services, to help get traffic flowing again
4.55pm – A member of the public is reporting that their house in York has been burgled today. We’re taking further details on the phone and we will be attending the address in the first instance to speak to the reporting person
5.18pm – Call received about a group of kids on bikes throwing stones at an abandoned house in York and smashing windows. Officers will be heading to the area
5.22pm – Caller reports concern for a family member who is a drug addict living in a shed and won’t move out. There are safety and welfare concerns for us. We’ll be attending and liaising with partner agencies to assist
5.27pm – Report from a member of the public stating that their child was approached by a man in Tadcaster today and offered drugs. We’re taking further detail so we can look make further enquires
6.20pm – Report of a possible hate crime in York. Caller states that a child has been racially abused by an adult. Officers to attend
6.51pm – Report of a man breaking into a property in York. Caller says he’s got in and has not come out. We are at the scene and will be using our big red key to see what’s going on
8.10pm – Caller in York reporting off-road motorbikes causing nuisance. An officer will be assigned to attend the location and speak to the caller as we know off-road bikes are a common problem in this local area
9.03pm – A report of a vehicle driving dangerously on the A1, swerving between lanes. The driver and passenger appeared to be inhaling from a balloon
10.27pm – A row at a York taxi rank over an unpaid fare. We’ve attended and the fare has now been paid
12.21am, Saturday – Caller reporting criminal damage to windows at a care home in the York area. Details logged and enquiries ongoing
1.34am – Caller reporting their partner has been attacked yesterday evening in Ripon city centre. Suffered significant injuries so going to hospital for treatment. Officers will make contact.
