A man was attacked in Selby town centre on Boxing Day.
It happened at around 11.20pm near the Market Cross, Finkle Street and the New Inn pub.
The victim, a man in his thirties, was knocked to the ground.
He suffered facial injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.
A man in his 20s has been arrested in connection with the incident and released on bail as police continue their investigation.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “We’re appealing for any witnesses who saw what happened, CCTV footage and dashcam footage from motorists who may have been passing through.”
