Firefighters rescued a man from a smoke-logged flat in Scarborough early this morning (Wednesday).
Residents in neighbouring homes on Regent Street called 999 at 2.38am.
Firefighters found unattended cooking which had activated smoke alarms.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “On investigating the specific flat, the occupant, a male, was found unconscious – believed to be due to smoke inhalation.
