A man who was found dead on Knavesmire in York has been named.
Adam Charles Robertson Kent, 59, died close to Tadcaster Road. His body was found on the morning of 30 January by a member of the public.
Alison Norton, assistant coroner for York and North Yorkshire, opened the inquest into Mr Kent’s death in Northallerton today (Thursday).
The inquest heard that Mr Kent, from York, had suffered with his mental health for many years.
That morning his wife had got up and saw he had gone out.
“She assumed he had gone out on a bike ride to clear his head,” Ms Norton said.
“When he didn’t return, she became worried and went out to find him.”
She couldn’t find him and returned home. Not long afterwards, police officers called to tell her that her husband had been found dead.
Where to get help
Police say there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding Mr Kent’s death. The provisional cause of death was given as hanging.
Mr Kent, who was born in Leicester, worked as a joiner.
Ms Norton adjourned the inquest to a date to be fixed.
