Drink driving is still a serious problem in York, despite all the campaigns to stop it.
And judging by events from overnight, we can add drink scooter riding to that problem.
Reports of both were shared by North Yorkshire Police as part of #NYPfor12 – the force’s 12-hour tweetathon logging every incident for 12 hours till 2am today (Saturday).
- Man knocked unconscious in spate of attacks in York
- Victim of WhatsApp ‘sextortion’ says they are being blackmailed for thousands of pounds
- Squirrel shooting, aggressive cows and naked campers – all in a night’s work for North Yorkshire Police
Here are the tweets that revealed some of the drink driving and riding concerns from overnight.
7.27pm – A report of a group of men riding hired electric scooters – possibly drunk – in the Bishopthorpe Road area of York. This would be a drink driving offence, a very serious matter. We’ve passed the details to officers who are in the area
8.27pm – We’ve received a tip off about a man who has driven away from a pub in York after drinking six pints of alcohol. We’ve dispatched a unit immediately and have the vehicle pulled over at the side of the road.
Drink associated violence was also a problem in York overnight – you can read more about that here.
