A motorcyclist has died after a collision on the A64 at York.
The accident happened shortly before 10am today (Sunday May 6) on the A64 eastbound at Grimston Bar.
It involved a Triumph Rocket Motorcycle and a black VW Passatt.
Sadly, the rider of the motorcycle, a man in his early fifties from the Nottingham area, died at the scene.
The pillion passenger, a woman in her early fifties, was taken to the Leeds General Infirmary by air ambulance, with serious injuries.
The occupants of the VW Passatt from the Durham area were uninjured in the incident, but extremely shaken.
Road was closed
The Yorkshire Ambulance Service despatched the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, two rapid response vehicles and two ambulances to the crash.
The road was closed in both directions for several hours. It has now reopened.
Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward. Officers investigating the incident are also asking anyone with dashcam footage to send it to police.
