Man dies in York fire – police investigating cause
Fire crews from Acomb and York responded to reports of a fire on North Lane, off Thanet Road, in Dringhouses, at 12.50am on Wednesday (April 29).
On their arrival firefighters found one flat on fire. One person was rescued from the building and taken to York Hospital by ambulance, where he was pronounced dead. He was a man in his thirties.

Fire crews used hose reel jets to extinguish the fire and cleared smoke from the building.
North Yorkshire police and the fire service are working together to establish the cause of the fire, which is not yet known.
A police spokesperson said:
However a man in his thirties was taken to York District Hospital where he was sadly pronounced dead.
The police and fire services are making enquiries to establish the cause of the fire, which is at this time unexplained.
