A man died after being struck by a train at Northallerton yesterday evening (Sunday).
As YorkMix reported last night, the East Coast Main Line was closed north of York as emergency services responded to the incident.
Sadly, however, there was nothing they could do to save the man.
A British Transport Police spokesperson said: “Officers were called to Northallerton railway station at 5.53pm on 19 March to reports of a casualty on the tracks.
“Paramedics also attended, and sadly a man was pronounced dead at the scene.
“This incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
Services on the East Coast Main Line have returned to normal after yesterday’s tragedy.
