A man was rescued from the river in York – only to sadly die later in hospital.
Police were called to reports of a man in the Ouse close to Scarborough Bridge just after noon on Monday (2 November)
A North Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “The man was rescued and transported to hospital where he later died.
“His next of kin have been informed and his death is not being treated as suspicious.”
A witness told YorkMix: “There were several police vehicles there, one police launch boat, one ambulance, and various personnel including one person in a full body white suit.
“Someone on the boat pulled the person out of the water and gave CPR for about ten minutes.
“The location was on the Ouse bank just down from Perky Peacock, opposite the Star Inn the City.”
