Police investigating a rape in Scarborough have charged a man.
As YorkMix reported, the rape – described as a “terrifying incident” by the lead detective – took place at 1.50am on Sunday in the Dean Road Cemetery.
Two men, aged 18 and 21, were arrested shortly afterwards.
Today (Tuesday), North Yorkshire Police said the 18-year-old man from Scarborough who was arrested has been charged with rape.
He was remanded in police custody to appear at York Magistrates Court today.
The 21-year-old man who was also arrested at the time, has been released on conditional police bail to allow for further enquiries to be carried out.
Officers continue to appeal for information and witnesses from anyone who was in the area overnight 20-21 July who can assist with their enquiries.
