A man has been arrested after an incident that closed a York city centre street for more than an hour.
Police were contacted at 7.40pm on Tuesday (December 5) to reports of a man on the roof of a property on Stonegate, near the Trembling Madness pub.
Stonegate was closed to allow police to deal with the incident. Parts of High and Low Petergate were also cordoned off.
Fire and ambulance both attended.
The man was successfully brought down from the roof at 9.01pm.
A 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary and remains in police custody.
