Man arrested after violence breaks out at York council HQ
A man has been arrested after violence broke out at the City of York Council HQ today (Tuesday).
It happened shortly after 1.30pm. Police were called in to West Offices on Station Rise by council security staff.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said the council staff “stated they had a male detained who had been threatening and violent towards them.
“Officers attended and arrested a man in his 40s for a suspected assault and a suspected public order offence.”
He said the man remains in police custody is being questioned about the incident.
One witness told YorkMix that there were around ten police officers who were struggling to subdue the subject outside West Offices.
