Selby Police have arrested one man after an incident in Eggborough this evening.
There was a large police presence in the village earlier on Saturday evening and officers say they can now confirm that a local man has been arrested following reports of a group of children being threatened with a large knife.
He remains in custody.
North Yorkshire Police said: “We would like to reassure the community that nobody was injured and it is believed to be isolated incident.
“The investigation is ongoing at this time and we would like to thank residents for their patience whilst we dealt with the matter.”
No further details have been released at this stage.
It is the second major police incident in Eggborough in a matter of days. Last week YorkMix reported the hunt after a stranger took a two-year-old child from a garden in the village.
