Police investigating an armed raid in a North Yorkshire village have arrested a man.
YorkMix reported last week how raiders armed with hammers threatened and assaulted staff at Monk Fryston Post Office and Village Stores near Selby.
Staff at the store were pushed to the ground during the robbery at 4.40pm last Monday (19 February). One was taken to hospital for checks.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Suspects armed with what were believed to be hammers entered the store on Main Street, threatened staff and left with an amount of cash.”
They appealed to anyone who was in the area at the time and saw a white van or its occupants in the vicinity of the post office to contact them.
In an update today (Monday), police said: “A man in his 30s was arrested in Nottinghamshire in connection with this investigation.
“He was released with no further action following questioning by police. The investigation continues.”
