Police arrested a man spotted acting suspiciously in Acomb, York, last night (Saturday).
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Last night officers arrested a 30 year old male in the Acomb area of York following reports of a male acting suspiciously inside a vehicle.
“The male has been charged with vehicle interference and has been remanded into custody.
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank the members of public who reported this into us.”
Police say they have seen a rise in thefts from vehicles recently.
They are urging all drivers to ensure that their vehicles are secure and that no valuables are left on display.
“You may see an increased police presence in your area, particularly on evenings and in the early hours over the coming weeks,” the force said.
