The Covid-19 mobile testing unit in Malton will be officially decommissioned this week.
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has confirmed that all equipment will be removed from Wentworth Street car park over the three days from tomorrow (Tuesday, 21 June).
Then the site will be returned to Ryedale District Council for continued use as a car park.
There will still be access to the main car park when the work takes place at the top deck.
All nearby residents will have received a letter to let them know of the process involved. Meanwhile, Ryedale District Council is reassuring residents that the site will continue to have 24 hour security while the decommissioning process takes place.
Phillip Spurr, Director of Place and Resources for Ryedale District Council said: “This is a great milestone for Ryedale residents and the next step that demonstrates the government’s focus on learning to live with Covid.
“The virus hasn’t gone away and we’d encourage everyone to familiarise themselves with the Government’s living with COVID response.”
