A village pub near York is up for sale as a major brewer looks to offload dozens of its venues.
The Marston’s pub company has put 61 of its 1,400 pubs up for sale.
They are described as ‘non-core’ venues, and can be bought as single entities, in small groups or as a whole package.
Those now on sale include the White Swan Inn in Deighton, about five miles south of York city centre near Escrick.
It is being marketed by Christie & Co. As well as the main, two-storey pub, the sale includes a former stables building round the back.
“There is also a car park and a beer garden with approximately 90 covers,” the Christie’s details say.
“Traditional open plan trading area, with lounge to the left, bar area to the centre and dining room to the right and a commercial kitchen. On the first floor are five ensuite guest bedrooms.”
It has a rateable value of £9,500.
The White Swan has a 4.5 rating on TripAdvisor. Recent reviews praise the “amazing” food and warm atmosphere.
Closed in recent days, it is due to reopen on 23 March, according to the Facebook page.
Noel Moffitt, senior director at Christie & Co, said: “The pub sector has been very resilient over the last few years and has adapted well to the challenges and despite interest in the sector there is a lack of properties on the market.
“This portfolio offers new entrants and existing operators a wonderful opportunity to acquire investments or operate their own businesses.”
