A pop star has spent her birthday in York – and loved every minute.
Kim Wilde shared a picture of her on the walls with York Minster in the background on X yesterday (Sunday).
“Loving my birthday in beautiful York. Thanks everyone for your sweet birthday messages and love, very appreciated!” she wrote.
The post has had nearly 150K views.
Kim’s birthday was on Saturday (18 November) when she turned 63.
The singer had a string of smash hits in the 1980s, including ‘Kids In America’, ‘You Keep Me Hangin On’ and ‘Cambodia’.
She holds the record for being the most-charted British female solo act of the 1980s, with 17 UK Top 40 hit singles throughout the decade – including ‘Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree’ with Mel Smith which will be played throughout December.
She has played York more than once, most recently at York Barbican last September, a show that was rescheduled from the year before.
Her X post received a lot of love in return. Mike wrote: “Happy birthday Kim, and what a lovely place to be on your birthday.
“I used to live there as a kid, when my dad was in the army. Of all the countries we lived nowhere is as great as York, I had the time of my life there.”
Missy posted: “Happy Birthday Kim. You look amazing. York is a beautiful place.”
And Bastien Pendragon added: “York! My favourite town in England. The most romantic place in York is probably the Treasurers House.
“I travelled from Paris to York to see you on stage at the Barbican Centre in 2018, fantastic show.”
Kim left York at lunchtime today (Monday):
