Are you bored of reading the same books over and over? Would you like to try a brand new read, without having to pay? Say no more…
This month all York libraries are hosting events for the World Book Night Big Book Swap.
Anyone who has a favourite book they would like to pass on to someone else can pop down to their local library and swap it for something different read.
Joy of reading
There are other celebrations too, including a chance for you to test your knowledge with a quiz, enjoy a selection of hot beverages and talk to fellow bookworms about your love for a certain novel, volume of poetry or non-fiction read.
You can meet and speak to local authors, benefit in book giveaways and special promotions and enjoy live music.
World Book Night itself is on April 23. This annual event, run by national charity The Reading Agency, focuses on the joy of reading.
Their research has shown that reading for pleasure is a more powerful factor in life achievement than socio-economic background – and it can contribute to positive mental health.
