He’s on the runway, and cleared for take-off…
This rising star of the fashion world will present his debut collection at London Fashion Week – and he’s from York.
We last featured Matty Bovan in YorkMix last year when he garnered rave reviews for his graduate MA show.
Now Matty is going a step further with his own show during London Fashion Week (September 16-20).
He is one of three menswear designers chosen by Fashion East to showcase their designs on the famous catwalk. Fashion East is an initiative to nurture emerging young designers through the early stages of their career.
Matty is the only newcomer to the show and his designs will hit the runway on Saturday, September 17.
He told Dazed magazine: “I’m super excited to be showing my new collection with Fashion East.
“The pedigree of their former designers is amazing and I’m very happy to be part of it.”
Previous designers supported by the scheme include Gareth Pugh, Jonathan Saunders, Roksanda Ilincic, Simone Rocha and Marques’ Almeida.
In addition to the London Fashion Week showcasing event, designers receive financial sponsorship, intensive one-to-one business mentoring, and inclusion in a leading Paris sales showroom.
So what can we expect from his collection? “It’s my version of a wardrobe, loaded with colour and texture,” he told Dazed.
“It’s twisted glamour. Very me.”
