Train operator LNER will place hundreds of thousands of tickets on sale for the Christmas and New Year period from tomorrow (Tuesday 8 November)
The tickets will be available for dates between Wednesday 21 December 2022 and Friday 6 January 2023.
They will cover LNER services for the full East Coast route, which includes York, Northallerton, Harrogate and Selby (limited service most London trains run by Hull Trains).
One-way advance fares between London King’s Cross and York start from £19.80 (standard) or £53.50 (first class).
LNER also allows people to sign-up for ticket alert notifications when tickets for new dates are released for sale, via the company website and app.
LNER managing director David Horne said: “This Christmas we have thousands of our great value fares available and customers will also be able to enjoy a range of exciting and fresh festive food and drink options onboard.
“As always, we recommend customers book direct on the LNER website or app and make a free of charge seat reservation for maximum comfort when travelling with us.
“The best value LNER fares are available when booked direct. There is no booking fee and customers can receive live journey alerts, select their preferred seat.”
Food to your seat
A festive menu will be introduced onboard LNER services from 30 November until 4 January 2023 in both standard and first class.
North Yorkshire based Masons Gin will be offered as part of the First Class onboard offer alongside Baileys Irish Cream.
Customers in standard will be able to use the ‘Let’s Eat at Your Seat’ service to have items delivered to their own seat from the onboard café bar.
A selection of special seasonal sandwiches and snacks will be on offer including Lottie Shaws mince pies, Meatless Farm vegan sausage rolls, Cadbury’s Snowballs and Negroni Spritz.
New data shows more customers have returned to LNER services, when compared with pre-pandemic usage, than any other franchised operator.
This Christmas will be the first for some time without travel restrictions, so trains are expected to be very popular especially on LNER’s cross-border services between Scotland and England.
However, planned engineering works are due to take place at York Station between 27 December 2022 and 1 January 2023.
Customers are advised to check before they travel.
As usual no LNER services will operate on Christmas Day (Sunday 25 December) or Boxing Day (Monday 26 December) with services finishing earlier on New Year’s Eve (Saturday 31st December 2022).
