Weekly update, 8 July 2022: Four areas of York now have Covid case rates of 400+
Another 552 coronavirus cases were reported in York this week (to Wednesday, 6 July) – up from 541 last week.
The cumulative case total has risen to 68,053 (total as at Tuesday, 5 July).
The rolling seven-day rate in York is 261.6 new cases per 100,000 people. It was 228.4 last week.
The English national average is 246.3, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 206.
As at 30 June, the Covid Symptom App estimates 9,698 people per 100,000 in York with symptomatic Covid (responses from a sample of 1,616 people) – up from 4,205 last week.
There have been three coronavirus deaths in the City of York Council area in the last seven days (up two). The total number of deaths in the city is 496.

There have been nine coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in the week to 7 July.
That takes the total to 977 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals).
There were 123 Covid patients in York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals) on 8 July – up 11 on the week before. One is in the intensive care unit – down by two.
