Wednesday update: Six more coronavirus deaths in York NHS Trust hospitals

A further 90 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Tuesday, 31 August).

That takes the cumulative case total to 20,236 – giving an overall infection rate of 9,590 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 562 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – down 82 (-12.7%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 269.7 new cases per 100,000 people (569 cases in the week to 28 August). That’s down from 309.5 in the previous seven days (653 cases in the week to 21 August).

The English national average is 312.9, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 349.1.

There were two coronavirus deaths in the City of York Council area reported today, and two in the last seven days (as at 1 September).

In North Yorkshire, there were 286 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 51,211 – an infection rate of 8,251.7 cases per 100K.

There are:

  • 3,284 cases in Ryedale (up 21) – 330.8 case rate per 100K
  • 8,580 in Selby (up 50) – 365.3
  • 13,453 in Harrogate (up 88) – 296.5
  • 7,269 in Hambleton (up 31) – 249.1
  • 9,264 in Scarborough (up 55) – 335.7
  • 4,498 in Richmondshire (up 20) – 253.1
  • 4,863 in Craven (up 21) – 348.8.

There were six coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That takes the total to 631 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals).

There were five coronavirus patients admitted to the York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust trust on 22 August, and 43 in the previous seven days (up 18).
