Wednesday update: Four more coronavirus deaths in the York NHS Trust

There were another 19 coronavirus cases confirmed in York today (Wednesday, 9 December).

That takes the cumulative total to 5,815 – giving an overall infection rate of 2,760.9 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days there have been 137 positive Covid-19 tests in York – an increase of six (4.6%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 59.8 new cases per 100,000 people (126 cases in the week to 5 December). That’s down from 76.9 in the previous seven days (162 cases in the week to 27 November).

At the University of York, there were ten individuals self isolating due to a positive Covid-19 test today. Since the previous update on Tuesday it has been notified of one new case.

At York St John University, there was one person self isolating due to a positive test on Tuesday.

In North Yorkshire, there were 103 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 14,099 – an infection rate of 2,281.2 cases per 100K.

There are 781 cases in Ryedale (up nine), 2,228 in Selby (up 18), 3,761 in Harrogate (up 20), 1,781 in Hambleton (up two), 3,105 in Scarborough (up 28), 1,042 in Richmondshire (up 13) and 1,401 in Craven (up 13).

There were four more coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today. We don’t know whether they were at York or Scarborough Hospitals.

That takes the total to 321 across the trust.
