Wednesday update: Coronavirus rate falls in York

Another 70 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Wednesday, 8 September).

That takes the cumulative case total to 20,755 – giving an overall infection rate of 9,835.9 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 539 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – down 23 (-4.1%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 266.3 new cases per 100,000 people (562 cases in the week to 4 September). That’s down from 269.7 in the previous seven days (569 cases in the week to 28 August).

The English national average is 324.9, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 375.4.

There were no coronavirus deaths in the City of York Council area reported today, and three in the last seven days (as at 8 September).

In North Yorkshire, there were 349 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 53,544 – an infection rate of 8,627.6 cases per 100K.

There are:

  • 3,480 cases in Ryedale (up 30) – 318.2 case rate per 100K
  • 8,966 in Selby (up 59) – 406.8
  • 14,166 in Harrogate (up 119) – 401.7
  • 7,556 in Hambleton (up 39) – 311.1
  • 9,660 in Scarborough (up 44) – 353.1
  • 4,672 in Richmondshire (up 33) – 253.1
  • 5,044 in Craven (up 25) – 301.7.

There were no coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That leaves the total at 636 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals).

There were eight coronavirus patients admitted to the York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust trust on 29 August, and 31 in the previous seven days (down 12).
