Wednesday update: Another big rise in coronavirus cases in York

A further 149 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Wednesday, 30 December) – the day before the city is moved in to Tier 3.

It takes the cumulative total to 7,039. The overall infection rate is not available today.

In the last seven days there have been 694 positive Covid-19 tests in York – an increase of 321 (86.1%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 264.9 new cases per 100,000 people (389 cases in the week to 26 December). That’s up from 240.7 in the previous seven days (507 cases in the week to 19 December).

In North Yorkshire, there were 318 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 17,172. The infection rate is not available today.

There are 999 cases in Ryedale (up 20), 2,717 in Selby (up 55), 4,311 in Harrogate (up 53), 2,272 in Hambleton (up 61), 3,881 in Scarborough (up 62), 1,348 in Richmondshire (up 41) and 1,644 in Craven (up 26).

There were four more coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That takes the total to 370 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals).
