Wednesday update: 77 more coronavirus cases in York

A further 77 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Wednesday, 27 January).

It takes the cumulative total to 10,856 – giving an overall infection rate of 5,154.4 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 482 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – a decrease of 299 (-38.3%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 269.2 new cases per 100,000 people (567 cases in the week to 23 January). That’s up from 424.9 in the previous seven days (895 cases in the week to 16 January).

The English national average is 386.6, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 247.7.

There have been three more coronavirus-related deaths in the York council area, and 28 in the last seven days (up five / 21.7%).

In North Yorkshire, there were 195 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 25,143  – an infection rate of 4,068.1 cases per 100K.

There are 1,567 cases in Ryedale (up seven), 4,038 in Selby (up 43), 6,474 in Harrogate (up 53), 3,539 in Hambleton (up 38), 4,924 in Scarborough (up 27), 2,156 in Richmondshire (up 15) and 2,445 in Craven (up 12).

There were four more coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

That takes the total to 475 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals).
