Wednesday update: 72 more coronavirus cases in York

There were 72 more coronavirus cases confirmed in York today (Wednesday, 23 December).

It takes the cumulative total to 6,345 – giving an overall infection rate of 3,012.6 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days there have been 373 positive Covid-19 tests in York – an increase of 216 (137.6%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 125.8 new cases per 100,000 people (265 cases in the week to 19 December). That’s up from 63.6 in the previous seven days (134 cases in the week to 12 December).

In North Yorkshire, there were 156 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 15,716 – an infection rate of 2,542.8 cases per 100K.

There are 888 cases in Ryedale (up 15), 2,492 in Selby (up 25), 4,056 in Harrogate (up 26), 1,964 in Hambleton (up 28), 3,597 in Scarborough (up 30), 1,175 in Richmondshire (up 17) and 1,544 in Craven (up 15).

There were three more coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That takes the total to 356 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals).

Nine coronavirus patients were admitted to the two York Trust hospitals today, and there are 74 Covid-19 patients in hospital, with six on ventilation.
