Wednesday update: 27 more coronavirus cases in York

There were another 27 coronavirus cases confirmed in York today (Wednesday, 16 December).

That takes the cumulative total to 5,972 – giving an overall infection rate of 2,835.5 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days there have been 157 positive Covid-19 tests in York – an increase of 20 (14.6%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 63.6 new cases per 100,000 people (134 cases in the week to 12 December). That’s up from 63.1 in the previous seven days (133 cases in the week to 5 December).

In North Yorkshire, there were 176 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 14,830 – an infection rate of 2,399.5 cases per 100K.

There are 816 cases in Ryedale (up three), 2,351 in Selby (up 24), 3,917 in Harrogate (up 36), 1,836 in Hambleton (up 11), 3,341 in Scarborough (up 59), 1,107 in Richmondshire (up 30) and 1,462 in Craven (up 13).

There were two more coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today. We don’t have a breakdown between York Hospital and Scarborough.

That takes the total to 336 across the trust.
