Wednesday update: 26 new coronavirus cases in York – and five more deaths

A further 26 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Wednesday, 16 June).

That takes the cumulative case total to 12,675 – giving an overall infection rate of 6,018 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 157 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – up 67 (74.4%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 67.9 new cases per 100,000 people (143 cases in the week to 12 June). That’s up from 30.9 in the previous seven days (65 cases in the week to 5 June).

The English national average is 72.7, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 79.7.

There have been five coronavirus deaths in the City of York Council area reported today, and five in the last seven days (as at 16 June).

In North Yorkshire, there were 75 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 30,856 – an infection rate of 4,992.4 cases per 100K.

There are 1,921 cases in Ryedale (no change), 5,369 in Selby (up 15), 7,951 in Harrogate (up 29), 4,303 in Hambleton (up four), 5,677 in Scarborough (up four), 2,694 in Richmondshire (up five) and 2,941 in Craven (up 18).

There were no coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That leaves the total at 593 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals). The last death was reported on 15 June.

There were no coronavirus patient admitted to the trust on 6 June, and two in the previous seven days.
