Wednesday update: 114 new coronavirus cases in York and North Yorkshire

There were 17 more coronavirus cases confirmed in York today (Wednesday, 17 February).

It takes the cumulative total to 11,622 – giving an overall infection rate of 5,518 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 159 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – a decrease of 89 (-35.9%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 86.4 new cases per 100,000 people (182 cases in the week to 13 February). That’s down from 135.8 in the previous seven days (286 cases in the week to 6 February).

The English national average is 142.8, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 156.

There has been one more coronavirus-related death in the York council area, and 18 in the last seven days (up three / 20%).

In North Yorkshire, there were 97 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 27,379  – an infection rate of 4,429.9 cases per 100K.

There are 1,735 cases in Ryedale (up nine), 4,441 in Selby (up 26), 7,086 in Harrogate (up 27), 3,921 in Hambleton (up eight), 5,205 in Scarborough (up 12), 2,383 in Richmondshire (up five) and 2,608 in Craven (up ten).

There was one more coronavirus-related death reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

That takes the total to 556 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals).
