Tuesday update: York records no new coronavirus cases – as rate drops below 20

There were no new coronavirus cases in York today (Tuesday, 6 April).

It leaves the cumulative total at 12,219 – giving an overall infection rate of 5,801.5 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 26 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – down 33 (-55.9%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 18.5 new cases per 100,000 people (39 cases in the week to 2 April). That’s down from 29.9 in the previous seven days (63 cases in the week to 26 March).

The English national average is 41, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 83.1.

There were no more coronavirus-related deaths in the York council area today, and two in the last seven days (up one / 100%).

In North Yorkshire, there were 20 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 29,388  – an infection rate of 4,754.9 cases per 100K.

There are 1,864 cases in Ryedale (up two), 4,864 in Selby (up seven), 7,597 in Harrogate (up two), 4,183 in Hambleton (up one), 5,512 in Scarborough (up six), 2,598 in Richmondshire (no change) and 2,770 in Craven (up two).

There were no more coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today. The last death was on Friday, 2 April.

That leaves the total at 584 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals).
