Tuesday update: York coronavirus rate drops below 1,000

A further 207 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Tuesday, 8 February).

That takes the cumulative case total to 52,208 – giving an overall infection rate of 24,741.7 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 1,747 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – down 2,896 (-62.4%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 954.0 new cases per 100,000 people (2,013 cases in the week to 4 February). That’s down from 1,167.2 in the previous seven days (2,463 cases in the week to 28 January).

The English national average is 905.8, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 776.

There were no coronavirus deaths in the City of York Council area reported today, and none in the last seven days (as at 8 February).
