Tuesday update: York coronavirus case rate rises slightly, but remains low

A further five coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Tuesday, 25 May).

That takes the cumulative total to 12,370 – giving an overall infection rate of 5,873.2 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 31 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – up one (3.3%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 14.7 new cases per 100,000 people (31 cases in the week to 21 May). That’s up from 13.3 in the previous seven days (28 cases in the week to 14 May).

The English national average is 22.5, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 35.2.

There have been no coronavirus deaths in the City of York Council area in the last seven days.

In North Yorkshire, there were 12 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 30,196 – an infection rate of 4,885.7 cases per 100K.

There are 1,895 cases in Ryedale (up one), 5,217 in Selby (up two), 7,744 in Harrogate (up four), 4,230 in Hambleton (up two), 5,611 in Scarborough (up one), 2,651 in Richmondshire (up one) and 2,848 in Craven (up one).

There were no more coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That leaves the total at 591 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals). The last death reported at the trust was on 21 April.
