Tuesday update: York coronavirus case rate rises above 650

A further 257 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Tuesday, 21 December).

That takes the cumulative case total to 32,347 – giving an overall infection rate of 15,329.5 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 1,498 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – up 699 (74.8%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 658.7 new cases per 100,000 people (1,390 cases in the week to 17 December). That’s up from 434.6 in the previous seven days (917 cases in the week to 10 December).

The English national average is 803.1, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 464.2.

There were no coronavirus deaths in the City of York Council area reported today, and two in the last seven days (as at 21 December).

There were no coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That leaves the total at 726 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals).

There were six coronavirus patients admitted to the York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust trust on 12 December, and 42 patients in hospital on 14 December, two in ventilation beds. In the previous seven days, 45 Covid patients were admitted – up 18.
