Tuesday update: Three more coronavirus cases confirmed in York, as city’s infection rate rises slightly

There were three coronavirus cases confirmed in York today (Tuesday, 20 April).

That takes the cumulative total to 12,201 – giving an overall infection rate of 5,793 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 32 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – up nine (39.1%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 13.8 new cases per 100,000 people (29 cases in the week to 16 April). That’s up from 10.0 in the previous seven days (21 cases in the week to 9 April).

The English national average is 25.8, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 52.1.

There were no more coronavirus-related deaths in the York council area today, and one in the last seven days (up one / 0%).

In North Yorkshire, there were 34 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 29,619  – an infection rate of 4,792.3 cases per 100K.

There are 1,876 cases in Ryedale (up two), 4,946 in Selby (up 16), 7,640 in Harrogate (up two), 4,186 in Hambleton (up three), 5,550 in Scarborough (up eight), 2,616 in Richmondshire (no change) and 2,805 in Craven (up three).

There were no more coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That leaves the total at 590 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals). The last death was reported on Saturday, 17 April.
