Tuesday update: Significant fall in the rolling rate of coronavirus cases in York

A further 60 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Tuesday, 27 October).

That takes the cumulative total to 3,457 – giving an overall infection rate of 1,641.4 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days there have been 583 positive Covid-19 tests in York – which is down by 101 (-14.8%).

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 285.8 new cases per 100,000 people (602 cases in the week to 23 October). That’s down from 297.2 in the previous seven days (626 cases in the week to 15 October).

According to analysis by expert number cruncher @RP131 on Twitter, City of York Council has fallen from 47th to 76th place in the table of 315 local authorities, based on the rolling cases for the seven days to 24 October.

At the University of York, there were 160 individuals self isolating due to a positive Covid-19 test today. Since the previous update on Monday it has been notified of 33 new cases, included in that figure.

At York St John University there were 39 people self isolating due to a positive test today.

In North Yorkshire, there were 179 new confirmed Covid-19 cases today, taking the cumulative total to 7,226 – an infection rate of 1,169.2 cases per 100K.

There are 392 cases in Ryedale (up eight), 1,128 in Selby (up 36), 2,106 in Harrogate (up 57), 974 in Hambleton (up 24), 1,206 in Scarborough (up 22), 625 in Richmondshire (up 14) and 795 in Craven (up 18).

There was one more coronavirus-related death reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today – at Scarborough Hospital.

That takes the total to 228. We don’t have an up-to-date breakdown of that figure between York and Scarborough Hospitals.
