Tuesday update: Number of coronavirus cases in York doubles in a week

Another 59 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Tuesday, 22 June).

That takes the cumulative case total to 12,967 – giving an overall infection rate of 6,156.6 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 318 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – up 163 (105.2%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 112.5 new cases per 100,000 people (237 cases in the week to 18 June). That’s up from 63.1 in the previous seven days (133 cases in the week to 11 June).

The English national average is 94.6, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 101.

There have been no coronavirus deaths in the City of York Council area reported today, and five in the last seven days (as at 22 June).

In North Yorkshire, there were 85 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 31,338 – an infection rate of 5,070.4 cases per 100K.

There are 1,941 cases in Ryedale (no change), 5,492 in Selby (up 18), 8,093 in Harrogate (up 28), 4,340 in Hambleton (up five), 5,710 in Scarborough (up 11), 2,757 in Richmondshire (up ten) and 3,005 in Craven (up 13).

There were no coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That leaves the total at 593 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals). The last death was reported on 15 June.

There was one coronavirus patient admitted to the trust on 13 June, and three in the previous seven days.
