Tuesday update: Just two more coronavirus cases in York

Just two more coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Tuesday, 1 June).

That takes the cumulative total to 12,424 – giving an overall infection rate of 5,898.8 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 54 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – up 23 (74.2%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 21.4 new cases per 100,000 people (45 cases in the week to 28 May). That’s up from 15.2 in the previous seven days (32 cases in the week to 21 May).

The English national average is 28.9, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 38.2.

There have been no coronavirus deaths in the City of York Council area in the last seven days.

In North Yorkshire, there were 15 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 30,293 – an infection rate of 4,901.4 cases per 100K.

There are 1,894 cases in Ryedale (no change), 5,232 in Selby (up four), 7,772 in Harrogate (up five), 4,243 in Hambleton (up one), 5,641 in Scarborough (up three), 2,654 in Richmondshire (up one) and 2,857 in Craven (up one).

There were no more coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today, or at the weekend.

That leaves the total at 591 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals). The last death reported at the trust was on 21 April.
