Tuesday update: Eight new coronavirus cases in York, 11 in Selby

Another eight coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Tuesday, 27 April).

That takes the cumulative total to 12,253 – giving an overall infection rate of 5,817.6 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 52 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – up 20 (62.5%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 21.8 new cases per 100,000 people (46 cases in the week to 23 April). That’s up from 14.2 in the previous seven days (30 cases in the week to 16 April).

The English national average is 25.2, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 47.2.

There were no more coronavirus-related deaths in the York council area today, and one in the last seven days (down one / 0%).

In North Yorkshire, there were 32 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 29,815  – an infection rate of 4,824 cases per 100K.

There are 1,882 cases in Ryedale (up two), 5,044 in Selby (up 11), 7,660 in Harrogate (up six), 4,199 in Hambleton (up six), 5,574 in Scarborough (up four), 2,628 in Richmondshire (up one) and 2,828 in Craven (up two).

There were no more coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That leaves the total at 591 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals). The last death reported at the trust was on 21 April.
